Our Approach

Fifth and sixth grade sets high expectations for our students as they transition from elementary to middle school level work.  Students are both challenged and supported in the process of strengthening their math and reading skills, as well as developing skills in public speaking, scientific analysis, and critical thinking.

What sets our classroom apart:

  • CARING ENVIRONMENT: The classroom is built on a strong sense of caring and love from the teacher who is committed to teach each child and expects hard work in return.

  • STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING: Textbooks guide the curriculum and the lessons but students get involved in the learning process to help them better engage with the material.

  • EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING: Outdoor learning experiences through overnight field trips to WalCamp and Springfield allow science and history to come to life.
Three female middle school students in uniform sit at a table inspecting rocks with a magnifying glass.
"Before I came to Grace last year, I thought I wouldn’t have any friends but by the end of the year, everyone was friends with everyone." - Celia M, 6th Grade Student

Grades 7 & 8

Teacher: Mr. Hansa

Our Approach

Grades 7 & 8 raise the bar of expectations to ensure that every Grace Christian Academy graduate is ready for high school. A two-year curriculum ensures mastery and growth in each subject by the time the student has completed 8th grade. Small class sizes ensure personal attention as students are challenged to produce high quality projects in literature, math, science, speech, English, social studies, and other subject areas. Students are expected to work hard but help is readily available to support students who need extra attention to grasp each lesson.

What sets our classroom apart:

  • LEARNING GOD’S TRUTH: Faith-based curriculum is incorporated across all subjects & the teacher truly cares about each student's spiritual growth in addition to academics.

  • HIGH STANDARDS: Students are challenged to become hard working, responsible, and in charge of their own learning in order to better prepare them for high school.

  • EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING: Lessons are brought to life through an annual class trip to either Atlanta, Georgia or Washington, D.C.

"In 7th and 8th grade, Mr. Hansa wanted to instill in us the reality after Grace. He was sometimes direct, but it was a good thing because it helped us become better people." - Raul A, Grace Alum
