Fifth and Sixth grade sets high expectations for our students as they transition from elementary to middle school level work. Students are both challenged and supported in the process of strengthening their math and reading skills, as well as developing skills in public speaking, scientific analysis, and critical thinking.
CARING ENVIRONMENT: The classroom is built on a strong sense of caring and love from the teacher who is committed to teach each child and expects hard work in return.
STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING: Textbooks guide the curriculum and the lessons but students get involved in the learning process to help them better engage with the material
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING: Outdoor learning experiences through overnight field trips to WalCamp and Springfield allow science and history to come to life. The class rotates trips, allowing students to one year enjoy the outdoors and conduct science experiments on a 3-day trip to Camp and the next year explore Illinois history on a 3-day trip to Springfield.
