Lutheran Schools Week is filled with fun activities and traditions as students and parents gear up for the 2018-2019 school year. Registration is officially open and the class competitions are in full swing. While students are having fun with spirit days and fun dress up themes, the learning never stops. Right in the middle of the week, students in 5th - 8th grade are challenged to prepare and present a speech to their classmates, teachers, parents, and three guest judges for the annual speech contest. The task of speaking in front of so many people inside the beautiful Grace Lutheran Church is an intimidating assignment for many of our students, but we are so proud to watch them grow in skill and confidence each year as they present.
We celebrate a winner in each grade and an overall winner for the entire speech competition. While in many cases, the winning speech was only a point or two ahead of the competition, we are pleased to announce this years winners. Fifth Grade: Zoe Radford Sixth Grade: Grace Giannotta Seventh Grade: Citlali Velazquez Eighth Grade: Daniela Plascencia Overall winner: Alexandra Plascencia We invite you to check out all the winners on the youtube channel gcachicago (search gcachicago speeches). If you want to locate a speech by your son, daughter, niece, nephew, brother, sister, or friend, on youtube you can also search gcachicago speeches and their first name.
