Third and Fourth grade introduces students to combined classrooms, challenging students with greater independence over their learning. Individualized work serves to stretch students’ abilities in math and reading while students also begin to engage in critical thinking skills through a challenging science curriculum.
What sets our 3rd/4th Grade classroom apart:
FOCUS ON READING: Leveled reading groups help to ensure that students are being challenged to grow as readers based on their current reading abilities. Students read books in small groups at an appropriate level to encourage comprehension and a love of reading.
INDIVIDUALIZED LEARNING: ESpark provides an individualized ipad learning program that assesses each students’ math and reading skills and creates activities that help students further develop their skills based on their current level.
STEM IN THE CLASSROOM: Science curriculum incorporates several STEM projects that challenge students to work in groups as they design and build various contraptions to achieve a goal. Science skills are also demonstrated in individual projects presented each spring at the school science fair.
MUSIC: Students are introduced to music through learning to play recorders. They are given a chance to perform in front of the entire school and their families during the Christmas program in December.
CELEBRATING TOGETHER: The Christmas season is always an extra special time in 3rd/4th with lots of decorations and holiday projects as well as daily Christmas stories and visits from the classroom elf, Claire.
